Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi Arrival. O/N in Hanoi

You’ll arrive in the enchanting city of Hanoi, greeted with warm hospitality by our English-speaking guide and driver, who will escort you to your hotel for check-in. Your unforgettable journey in Vietnam kicks off with a leisurely stroll through some of Hanoi’s most iconic landmarks, including the vibrant Old Quarter, the majestic Hanoi Opera House, the serene Ngoc Son Temple, and the picturesque Hoan Kiem Lake. And what better way to embrace your first evening than by savoring the rich flavors of authentic Vietnamese cuisine?

Day 2: Hanoi City Tour Full Day & Street Food – Night Train To Lao Cai. O/N On The Train (B/-/D)

Morning activities

Start your day with a delightful breakfast at the hotel. At 8:00 AM, you will be warmly greeted by our guide and driver, who will escort you to explore the legacy of Uncle Ho. Your journey will take you to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Presidential Palace, and his former residence (please note that while you can tour the surrounding grounds of the mausoleum, entry to the chamber where Uncle Ho’s body is housed is restricted on Mondays). You’ll also visit the historic One Pillar Pagoda.

As we continue our exploration, our next destination is the nearby Temple of Literature, the site of Vietnam’s first university established in the twelfth century to impart Confucian teachings to royalty. During your visit, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a captivating traditional music performance. Afterward, feel free to indulge in lunch at your leisure.

Afternoon activities:

This afternoon, immerse yourself in the rich history of Hanoi with a visit to the Quan Thanh Temple and Tran Quoc Pagoda. Experiencing a water puppet show at the theater will undoubtedly leave you with unforgettable memories of Ha Noi’s vibrant culture.

Evening activities:

You’ll take a leisurely stroll through the Old Quarter, guided by our knowledgeable host, where you can observe the local lifestyle and indulge in the delectable street food for dinner. The culinary delights are endless, and don’t miss the chance to savor a cup of local coffee before concluding your evening of street food exploration.

At 8:30 PM, our driver and guide will meet you at a designated spot to escort you to the train station for your overnight journey to Sapa. The train departs from Hanoi at 10:00 PM.

You’ll spend the night in a cozy air-conditioned soft sleeper cabin accommodating four passengers.

Please note: The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is closed for maintenance from June 15 to August 15 each year. Additionally, it is closed on Mondays and Fridays. Should your visit coincide with these closures, we will provide alternative sightseeing options in Hanoi.

Day 3: Sapa Trekking To Villages. O/N At Homestay (B/L//D)

Morning activities:

The train gracefully rolls into Lao Cai at approximately 6:30 am, where a friendly SeA Travel tour guide will be waiting to greet you. Keep an eye out for the “SeA Travel Vietnam” sign as you step out of the train station. You’ll have the opportunity to refresh yourself with a morning shower at a nearby hotel.

Next, embark on a scenic drive through the enchanting clouds as you travel by car or van to Sapa, a journey that takes about 1.5 hours. Upon your arrival in Sapa, you’ll savor a delicious breakfast at a charming local restaurant.

Following breakfast, we’ll set off on a brief ride from Sapa to our trekking base, where the adventure begins. Our trek will take us through breathtaking terraced rice fields and vibrant Hmong villages, providing ample opportunities to engage with locals tending to their fields. This is also the perfect time to brighten a child’s day by sharing books or pencils. We’ll pause for a delightful picnic lunch along the way, before continuing our trek to the beautiful Ta Phin village, home to the Dao people, which will bring us about 4 hours of unforgettable exploration.

Afternoon activities:

In the afternoon, we will continue our trek towards the picturesque Ta Phin village. Your host family from the Dao ethnic group will greet you with warm hospitality at their traditional home, where you’ll indulge in an authentic ethnic-style dinner and spend the night. Enjoy a delightful meal alongside your hosts, immersed in their rich culture.

Evening activities:

As the sun sets, the evening offers a wonderful opportunity to engage and share stories with the local minority community. You will spend the night in a charming stilt house, surrounded by the serene beauty of the village.

Special note:

• The trekking route spans approximately 5 kilometers and is categorized as a moderate trek.
• Your homestay will feature comfortable mattresses and pillows shared with fellow travelers. Experience the simplicity and authenticity of the traditional Red Dzao house, equipped with basic amenities—please note that the bathroom facilities are located outside, and hot water for showers is not available.

Day 4: More Trekking Village – Sapa. O/N In Sapa (B/L)

Morning activities:

As the first rays of dawn break through the horizon, the village awakens to a symphony of sounds that embody the spirit of morning life. You are invited to immerse yourself in the daily routines of the locals—whether it’s feeding the animals, tidying up the home, tending to the garden, or preparing a hearty breakfast.

Following breakfast, we’ll embark on a scenic trek along a picturesque valley route that takes us to the main road connecting Lao Cai and Sapa, a journey that will last approximately four hours. Along the way, we’ll also venture to Sin Chai village, allowing you to uncover the enchanting beauty of this remote community.

If you prefer a more leisurely start to your day, you can opt for a shorter one-hour stroll around the village, which will provide you with additional opportunities to connect with your host family and the friendly villagers.

Afterwards, we will make our way back to Sa Pa Town via a 30-minute drive, where you’ll have the freedom to enjoy lunch at your leisure.

Afternoon activities:

At 14:30, we’ll set out to explore the stunning gardens of Ham Rong Mountain, where you can also partake in a captivating traditional music performance presented by the local ethnic minority groups.

After the performance, you’ll have the rest of the afternoon to wander at your own pace and uncover the secrets that this vibrant town has to offer.

Evening activities:

As evening falls, you are free to explore the colorful streets of Sa Pa at your own leisure. Renowned for its delicious BBQ, this is the perfect opportunity to indulge in a culinary adventure for dinner. Later, you’ll retreat to your hotel, where you will rest for the night, reflecting on the day’s enriching experiences in Sa Pa.

Day 5: Sapa – Hanoi. O/N On The Train (B/L)

Morning activities:

Start your day in the enchanting town of Sapa with a delightful breakfast at your hotel. Afterward, take the opportunity to mingle and share stories with some of the new friends you may have made the previous afternoon. The morning and lunch hours are yours to explore at your leisure, allowing you to wander through the bustling local markets filled with vibrant colors and cultural treasures.

Afternoon activities:

At 2 PM, embark on a scenic drive to the picturesque Hmong village of Cat Cat. Here, you’ll delve deeper into the rich traditions of the Hmong people, discovering a community that remains charmingly untouched despite its proximity to popular tourist routes. Marvel at the historic French dam and stroll through the breathtaking terraced fields that paint the landscape with lush green hues.

As the day winds down, you’ll return to Sapa in the late afternoon and depart for Lao Cai train station at 5:30 PM. This will be your time to enjoy a leisurely dinner in Lao Cai, savoring the local cuisine at your own pace.

Evening activities:

As night falls, board the train bound for Hanoi at 9:40 PM. You’ll settle into the comfort of a shared air-conditioned soft berth, where you can relax and gaze out at the passing landscapes as you journey into the heart of Vietnam.

Day 6: Hanoi – Tam Coc. O/N In Ninh Binh (B/L)

Morning activities:

As you arrive at Hanoi Train Station at 5:30 AM, our friendly guide and driver will greet you and whisk you away to a nearby restaurant for a rejuvenating 75-minute massage, helping you shake off the fatigue from your overnight train journey. Following your massage, indulge in a delicious breakfast to fuel your day ahead.

At 8:00 AM, we’ll set off from Hanoi for a scenic 2.5-hour drive to the breathtaking Tam Coc Tourist Spot. After arriving, embark on a mesmerizing sampan boat ride to explore Tam Coc, known as the “Three Caves.” A local villager will skillfully navigate the tranquil waters, guiding you through stunning limestone hills and charming landscapes as you pass through three enchanting tunnel-like caves over the course of nearly two hours. After this unforgettable boat experience, you’ll be transported to Xuan Ang Ngoai Village, where a short hike along picturesque farm paths leads you to a cozy restaurant nestled in a hidden valley.

Afternoon & evening activities:

Post-lunch, take some time to relax before continuing your hike, immersing yourself in the stunning vistas of mountains, expansive farms, and quaint villages. Complete your day with an invigorating hike of approximately 500 steps up to the summit of Ngoa Long Mountain at Mua Cave. From this vantage point, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking 360-degree views of the spectacular karst landscape. If the weather permits, our guide will ensure you catch a picturesque sunset from this incredible height. Later in the evening, return to your hotel for a restful overnight stay in Ninh Binh.

Note: Expect to hike about 5km and enjoy 2 hours of serene boat riding.
