Relaxation was redefined during the afternoon tea on the bow, with nothing but the sound of waves against the karsts. The cabin featured a panoramic window that slid open – I slept with the sea breeze every night. The cave exploration of Sung Sot was awe-inspiring, but my favorite was kayaking through a hidden tunnel that opened into a secret, perfectly round lagoon.

The itinerary was well-paced: a morning tai chi session, then kayaking, then free time to nap on the loungers. Our connecting cabin for the family was cleverly designed with privacy curtains and ample storage. The food highlight was the pho breakfast station, made-to-order with aromatic broth. Seeing the floating villages and the iconic Thumb Rock up close made me feel I’d truly discovered something special.

Service was efficient and friendly—our request for extra pillows was fulfilled within minutes. The onboard gym was small but sufficient, and the spa’s hot stone massage melted away all travel fatigue. Fresh spring rolls at lunch and a perfectly cooked medium-rare beef tenderloin for dinner showed off Vietnamese flavors with a refined touch. Ha Long Bay’s thousands of islands are a true natural wonder.
