The Vietnam Women’s Museum, located in Hanoi, celebrates and honors the contributions of women in Vietnamese society throughout history. The museum features exhibits on the role of women in traditional family life, their contributions during wartime, and the impact of women in the modern era. What is there to see and experience

The museum is spread over four floors, each highlighting a different aspect of women’s lives in Vietnam.

On the first floor, you can learn about the role of women in the family and community, as well as their contributions to the workforce and economy. Exhibits include displays of traditional clothing, handicrafts, and domestic tools.

The second floor showcases the role of women during wartime, including their contributions as soldiers, spies, and propaganda artists. There are also displays highlighting the experiences of women during times of peace and conflict.

The third floor features the stories of Vietnamese women who have achieved success in various fields, including science, politics, and the arts. You can learn about the accomplishments of women like Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, who played a key role in Vietnam’s independence movement, and artist Mai Trung Thu, whose work is recognized internationally.

The fourth floor is dedicated to contemporary issues facing Vietnamese women, including reproductive health, gender-based violence, and discrimination. Interactive exhibits and multimedia displays provide you with the opportunity to learn more about these issues and engage with the stories of Vietnamese women.

Visiting the Vietnam Women’s Museum

• Entrance fee: 100,000 VND (about 4.5 USD) per adult and 30,000 VND (about 1.3 USD) per child (ages 6-16). Children under 6 years old and disabled visitors can enter for free.
• Opening times: The museum is open every day from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, including weekends and holidays. Last admission is at 4:30 PM.

How to get there

The Vietnam Women’s Museum is located in the Hoan Kiem district, which is the city center of Hanoi. If you are in the Old Quarter, the museum is about a 10-15 minute walk away. Alternatively, you can take a taxi or a ride-sharing service like Grab. Just make sure to specify the museum’s address to the driver: 36 Lý Thường Kiệt, Hàng Bài, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội. The museum is located near several landmarks, including the Hanoi Opera House and the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel, so it shouldn’t be difficult to find.
