Da Nang International Airport is one of the three biggest airports in Vietnam, together with Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi and Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City. This airport is located in Hai Chau, a county of Da Nang, about 5 kilometers away from the city center.

Da Nang International Airport, formerly known as Tourane Airport, was constructed by the French colonial government in the 1930s for military purposes. Today, the airport serves as a major transportation hub for both domestic and international passengers. In December 2011, a new passenger terminal was inaugurated, boasting modern facilities and capacity to accommodate between 4 to 6 million passengers annually.
