I’ve been on many cruises, but this Halong Bay junk boat felt intimate and special. The staff remembered my name and my dietary restrictions (gluten-free) immediately. Our room had traditional Vietnamese lacquer decor and a rainfall shower. The cooking class on making fresh spring rolls was engaging, and the sunset happy hour with a glass of local rum was pure bliss. The bay’s karsts look like dragons sleeping on the water—truly magical.

The crew treated us like royalty from the moment we stepped aboard, always smiling and eager to help. Our deluxe cabin had a vintage wooden feel with a huge window overlooking the bay, and the afternoon kayaking through a floating village was both peaceful and exciting. The seafood hotpot dinner was incredible, and waking up to the misty limestone peaks at 6 AM is a memory I’ll cherish forever.
